Lightning Demon Hunter Build

Hello guys,

I'm back again with a new guide on the Demon Hunter. This time it's about a more casual build, less high end, but none the less really nice to play and it has lot differences to the fire build. The lightning build is still viable in 2.1.2. Actually, you finish a Greater rift 50+ easily in group of 4. The same apply for solo: it's easy to finish a 45+. This build might need a tweaked team to reach 55+, but it's probably doable. However, I haven't started to work on that. Here's the build:

Diablo 3: RoS, patch 2.1.2, season 2, demon hunter lightning build guide

How to

Compared to the Fire build, the DH lightning build is extremely simple to master. It requires no ability to kite, no ressource management and no CDR which make it easy to use. Most of the time you're not moving. You're using Caltrop - Bait the Trap to allow you to move as little as possible. This build is all about not moving and throwing as many attack as possible. You're losing dmg when you're not attacking whereas with the Fire build, you want to build up dmg and unload at maximum efficiency. The big downside to this build is the gear. It's worthless if you don't have it perfectly set up which requires a retarded amount of shards. If you can get an helm thats roll with 20% Lightning dmg and 6% Crit chance as well as a Quiver with the correct stat With a really good Kridershot, you could think about running this build, but really any sub gear wouldn't make it past GR50+ and to keep a high level of DPS. A good point for this build: It melts down bosses like nothing. If you can come up with a group that clears rift like nothing, well you can use only 1 Lightning DH only to clear the GR boss. I ran some 51-52 Grift with this build and I was able to take down Saxtris in less than 7 mins alone.

All in and out, The lightning Demon hunter build in patch 2.1.2, Season is really cool and viable up to low Gr 50s in Diablo 3.

Diablo 3 2.1.2 Speedrun (Season1/Season2)

Hello guys,

I'm back and on fire this time! I'll be talking about the super speed run everybody is doing around Greater Rift this time. It's the end of S1 and people are running out of fuel for pushing greater rift. You may have seen Gabynator running this for a week or 2. It has allowed him to reach paragon 1200 + post S1.

To kill time until Season 2(February 13th, 2015), people are running Grift for a maximum of experience gain. The general idea is that greater rift reward more experience than normal rift for the same period of time and effort.

The sweet spot for high end player is around 35-38 and less geared players 32-35. You can finish your Grift runs with an avg. Between 3 and 4 mins.

The best team is:
·                     The barbarian uses: Hearth slaughterChilanik's chain, Strongarm bracers or Ancient parthan defenders. He uses for active skills: War cry, Sprint - Forced March, Call of the ancient - The council rises, Wrath of the berseker - Insanity, Frenzy - Vanguard, Ignore pain - the rune choice is really up to you or Battle rage- Marauder's rage and Furious charge - Stamina . Passives: Ruthless, Superstition, Boon of Bul-kathos, Brawler/Bloodthirst.
·                     The monk uses the fist of Az, Gundo gear. The active skills are: Crippling wave - Breaking wave, Cyclone Strike - Implosion, Inner Sanctuary - Forbidden place, Serenity - Ascension, Mantra of conviction - Overawe, Ephipany - Desert Shroud. Passives; Near death experience, Bacon of Ytar, Harmony, Sixth sense.
·                     Demon hunter #1: no particular gear. Active skills: Sentry - Polar station, Cluster arrow - Loaded for bear, Evasive fire - Focus, Companion - Wolf companion, Vault - Tumble and Preparation - Punishement. The passives are:  Cull the weak, Custom engineering, Aweraness and steady aim.
·                     Demon hunter #2 uses no particular gear: only a good crossbow is required. Skills are the same as DH #1. Maybe could use Sentry - Spitfire turret and Ballistic instead of Ambush.

This build and group is just a suggestion of my own and reflect what I've learn and what worked out best for us. In order to prove my point, within 10 days, I went from paragon 340 to 622. Hope this will help you level up. Remember Greater rift experience > T6 rift experience.

Fire Demon Hunter Build Patch 2.1.2

Anybody out there remember how was the life before Ipad and Ieat and Ishower for you? I do. Actually, I enjoy more stuff from before than now. I can remember how it was amazing to flip the pages on a comic book when I was 8. Maybe I'm too old school, who knows! Anyway, today I'm writing this simple text guide for the new fire demon hunter build in patch 2.1.2.  The meta has shifted towards maximum damage from Attack speed in 2.1. I'll present the skills, the gear and how to perform the Fire Build.

Fire demon hunter build in patch 2.1.2, Season 2

1. Skills (from left to right on your bar)

1.1 action bar
Companion- Wolf companion
Evasive Fire- Focus
Cluster arrow- Loaded for bear
Preparation- Punishment

1.2 Mouse
Sentry- Polar station(solo)/spitfire turret(group)
Vault- Tumble(t6, speed run)/ratling roll(grift)

1.3 Passive
Custom engineering (no replacement)
Cull of the Weak (no replacement)
Steady aim
awareness

Notes: There's many more passive skills that you can use depending on the situation and the group you're playing with. There's a few example: Blood Vengeance (trial), ambush(trial), archery(trial), Ballistics(physical). If you're using an hellfire amulet, you'll find yourself having even more choice.

2.Gear

2.1 Prime Gear (Ancient version are not mandatory, but gives a lot more stats i.e. Toughness for Grifts)
M6 composed of boots, pants, gloves, shoulders and helm.
Boots: Dex, Vit, All Resist and Multi shot/Cluster Arrow.
Pants: Dex, Vit, All Resist, 2 socket (Diamond/emerald)
Gloves: Dex, Crit Damage, Crit chance, Ressource cost reduction/Cooldown reduction/vit)
Shoulders: Dex, RCR(VIT), CDR, Sentry
Helm: Dex, Crit chance, cluster arrow, socket: (diamond/ruby for exp run).
Weapon: Hellrack(solo), Demon Machine(bis atm), arcane barb(easy to craft at first).

Notes: There's an ongoing debate as Season 2 progress on what is the best in slot weapon for demon hunter. In all cases, you should craft an arcane barb as top priority before anything else. After that, you can you use any good demon machine, buriza you find. Bows and even more hand crossbow are not recommended as the damage is calculated from the base damage and not the damage per second. With hand crossbow, you might find yourself doing 2/3 of the damage you would be doing with a crossbow of the same DPS.
Quiver: Bombardier's Rucksack: Dex, Crit chance, Cluster, CDR/RCR, Attack speed
ring: SOJ: Fire dmg, Crit dmg/Crit chance/Dex, Socket.
ring: Ring of Royal grandeur: Dex, Attack speed, Crit damage, Socket
belt: Witching hour

Extra belts: Razor strop, string of ears, chord of sherma, goldwrap(combined with boon of the hoarder)
Armor: Cindercoat: Fire, 3 Sock (emeralds), Sentry/vit.
bracers: Reaper's Wrap(crafted): Fire dmg, Dex, Vit/all res, Crit chance.
Amulet: Hellfire, Maras, etc: Dex/Fire dmg, Crit chance, Crit damage, Socket.

Notes : Tier 1 passives on hellfire are : Custom engineering, Awareness, Steady aim, Cull of the weak. Tier 2 passives :Ambush, Archery, Blood vegeance.
rings: Unity(solo grift), Compass rose(trial): Crit chance, Crit damage, Socket, Dex, base damage.

Note: Compass rose has a possibility to come with 5 primary stats which makes it the best in slot for trial. It beats the 20% dmg with a soj easily.

3. How to

Hatred is precious to the DH as time is to the man. You want to be careful how you do spend it and maximize the damage that comes out of it. In order to do that, you want to have the maximum hatred available (put 50 point in the paragon maximum hatred), the maxium amount of ressource cost reduction available for the build (30-40%) and cooldown reduction (CDR 30-35%). Those are the number that my profile gave me. The diminishing returns are different for the RCR and CDR. There's always some stuff you can work like rucksack CDR or RCR and so forth on the weapon. Use as much as possible RCR and CDR, but never lose main stat for it: DEX>RCR, Crit chance>RCR, etc. It's your job to work around the gear you have. Then you want to regenerate it as much as possible with wolf companion and Preparation- Punishment. Finally you want to spend it the best way possible. To explain this exactly, thoroughly and exhaustively would require a whole new post (which I may do in the future), but for now all you need to know is that you must have as many sentry on the ground as possible at any given time unless you have lethal (it means that your target is going to be dead before you miss hatred). Once you have 5 sentry, you try to calculate (1min) before dropping any other. This takes a while to master. Then you want proper rotation between hitting and regenerating, basicaly you spam cast wolf and Prep anytime they're up and they won't be wasted (i.e. hatred too full).

HAPPY KILLING WITH THE NEW FIRE DH BUILD IN PATCH 2.1.2 !!
